The initial launching of the magazine will be vital to receiving and maintaining future readers of the magazine to keep them interested.
Due to the increasing surge of technological devices and desire for these devices, I am going to use this to my advantage as part of the launch of the magazine. The internet can be used to create a website for the launch of the magazine, which could offer goodies and prizes in the first issue of the magazine and progressing in special editions of the magazine. The website could also be constantly be updated to keep the readers informed over the period between the initial magazine and the next printed magazine. Digital issues of the magazine have become much more common recently. This would be a win-win situation for both the producers of the magazine as well as the readers. The producers will need much less money for printing, which could be used to digitally showing the magazine and benefit the readers who will not be carrying round bulky magazine, getting in the way. Another technology factor that I could use is the ‘smartphone scanner’ system which has recently become very popular. The scanner uses something known as a QR code (similar to a barcode) where the majority of ‘Smartphones’ (such as iPhones) have a specified application to scan these codes. Embedded in these codes can be the website about the new magazine, up-coming features and exclusive offers. The QR code on my magazine can be seen on the content page, at the bottom right corner. I used an online QR code generator, where you can simply press the generate button to produce one of these codes. (If I had more time, I would possibly have created a working code linking to the website of the launch. This code will lead to Emma's blog).
