Audiance Feedback Survey

Upon finishing my music magazine, I had to create a mini-survey that given to individuals the chance to criticise my magazine and give constructive critiques on how to improve my magazine and the strengths and weaknesses of my magazine.

The questions asked were as followed:

  • Would you purchase this magazine if it was published?

  • Can you tell the genre of music that the magazine includes by looking at the front cover?

  • Is the magazine reasonably priced?

  • Could you give a suggestion for amendment?

Below are the charts of the results that I received from these magazines. The first 3 questions included a tick style answer of 'Yes' or 'No' and the final question for amendment was an open question, offering criticism.

Would you purchase this magazine if it was published as a real media product?

The critics that answered this question with 'No', I questioned them to why not. They all answered with the same answer of 'This type of music is not my type of music'. This is a fair point that I should have considered upon writing this survey.

Can you tell the genre of music that the magazine includes by looking at the cover?
All people that were asked agreed that the genre of my magazine (indie/alt.) was recognisable just by looking at the front cover.

Is the magazine reasonably priced?
All people that were asked agreed that this magazine was reasonably priced at £2.10. I gave the analogy of comparing it with NME which is priced at £2.40 for the same amount of content within my magazine.

Could you give a suggestion for amendment?

Too much blue
A  of black writing
Can't see masthead on front cover
The bands need to recognisable, I only know one.

The first comment of 'too much blue' was brought up as a critique of my magazine. As a response to this, I would state that the reason for using a predominantly blue colour was due to my colour scheme and my house style of blue, white and black. To the second comment of 'alot of black writing', I used the colour black because it was in front of a white background, therefore it would stand out better. To the next comment of 'Can't see the masthead on frontcover', was due to part of the ideology of the main image. covering the masthead enforces the idea of the character of Dane is the most important feature on that cover and that people will already know the name of the magazine as it is the 38th edition (see bar code on cover). Finally, for the recognisable bands comment, that was the whole genre of the magazine, hence the tag line of 'hidden from the hype', which was made for people who enjoy the lesser known music.
