My LIIAR Analysis of The Brief

LIIAR Analysis

Language-:
The Front cover of the College magazine will be a Masthead of the chosen magazine name, the main image (which will be a medium close up of an individual) and any anchorage relating to the main story (for example, captions, headings etc.). There will also so a content page that will be created which will be an organisation of images and page numbers relating to an individual story, as well as the main story. The housestyle will include 2, maybe 3 colours that will be used on the front cover and continued throughout. I will be using the colours white and light blue. My choice of colours is inspired by the ‘Grimsby Institute GX’ magazine that we were asked to look at as an example. I believe the combination of blue and white gives the magazine a contemporary look which is important to attract the reader’s attention. An ident could be included for the magazine, yet this would mean creating a logo consuming more time, yet with my idea of using Wyke as my publishing institution, their ident can be used. Intertextuality could be used to add a personal connection with the reader, possibly interjecting humour but this will rely on mutual cultural knowledge and understanding. As the target audience are college students, I could use a phrase or quote from a famous song or a television show such as ‘The Inbetweeners’ which is a popular television program among teens.

Institution:
The institute I am going to use to produce the magazine is Wyke. This would make the research of finding a college magazine publisher and would easily be able to use the Wyke ident. With using Wyke, I can therefore use the Wyke campus as the college that which i will take my photo.

Ideology:
The decision I have made for the main article of the college magazine is about revision and a discussion whether it is better to use books to revise or use technology to revise for examinations. The moral that I am wishing to discuss is that revision will help students achieve if they strive at opportunities to revise to gain better grades. This will gain a good reputation for the teens that study, which will conflict with the stereotype that all teenagers are lazy and disrespectful.

Audience:
The audience at which I will be targeting is obviously college students, yet more importantly the group of which students at college in UK. After compiling research, I have discovered that the majority of college students are between the age of 16 and 18. I also discovered that the majority of students are unemployed or have part-time jobs, showing a lack in finance. This is a decider that the price of my magazine will be free to all college students.

Representation:

The article about revision will portray the students and the college as determined and positive about their life at college. Obviously the choice of article will not appeal to all of the students at the chosen college, which is why my choice of other article headings is important, to try and attract a majority audience. As I have stated in my Ideology discussion, the stereotype of teenagers is that all teens are lazy and disrespectful. In my magazine, with my stories and main story, I will attempt to represent teenagers and students in a completely different way.
